The Early Music Studio’s Collegium Musicum was formed in 2008 as an instrumental ensemble dedicated to the performance of 17th and 18th century music on period instruments. The members of the Collegium, Tim Blackmore (recorders, harpsichord), Michel Cardin (baroque lute, theorbo), Sara Liptay (violin, viola da gamba), Richard Kidd (harpsichord), Robert Lewis (bassoon) and Katherine Moller (violin) are all professional musicians based in New Brunswick. The Collegium gave its début performances in Moncton and Saint John in the spring of 2009, the first a program of works for soprano, recorder and harpsichord by Purcell, Handel, Boismortier and Chambonnières with guest artist Jessica McCormack, and the second a program of instrumental works for recorder, violin, gamba and harpsichord by Purcell and Handel.

The Collegium Musicum performs two full concert programs per year, as well as providing the music for the Early Music Studio’s annual Tafelmusik fundraiser and other special events. Members of the Collegium are also the featured performers in the Studio’s Monday Music Series of summer concerts.
